The Board of Directors would like to thank Dr. Hans Ebinger

The Board of Directors would like to thank Dr. Hans Ebinger for his great achievements. Over the past four years, he has successfully built up Switzerland Innovation Park Ost as a newly founded start-up company with his enormous commitment, his sound technical understanding and his many years of management experience in the high-tech industry.

Dr. Hans Ebinger will focus on the development of the Sensor Innovation Hub in Buchs over the next few years. The Sensor Innovation Hub is a joint project between OST, RhySearch and SIP Ost and is of great strategic importance for the entire region.

The construction of the SIP Ost is a generational project

In spring 2021, the Federal Council decided to include SIP Ost as the sixth site operator in the overall Swiss Innovation Park network. As a result, Switzerland Innovation Park Ost AG was founded on September 2, 2021 by over 20 public and private shareholders as a public limited company under private law. The innovation park is located on the centrally located, well-developed building complex in Lerchenfeld on Fürstenlandstrasse in St. Gallen, in the immediate vicinity of Empa. SIP Ost is intended to be self-sustaining in the long term and to break even by 2031.

The main goal of the SIP Ost is to generate additional private research and development investments, in this way to strengthen the innovative power of Eastern Switzerland and to create new, attractive and sustainable jobs. The competitiveness of Eastern Switzerland and Liechtenstein is supported by the active networking of business, research and educational institutions in important fields of innovation.

The “Switzerland Innovation” network, which includes the locations Lausanne, Biel, Allschwil, Villigen and Zurich/Dübendorf in addition to St.Gallen, pursues the following main objectives:

  • to make the research excellence of Switzerland internationally visible,
  • to occupy important fields of innovation in an international comparison and
  • Settling research teams from international companies in Switzerland.
