Vision & Mission
The Switzerland Innovation Park Ost strengthens the innovative power of the region of Eastern Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein in order to create a sustainable foundation for the competitiveness of Switzerland as a research and work location.
Our vision
The focal point of the innovation park will be the innovation center that will be created in 2023. A unique range of knowledge, interaction, networking and hospitality for companies and research partners is being built here. In this way, the SIP Ost is developing into an “exciting” and effective catalyst for innovation in eastern Switzerland.
“Innovation hubs” are being created at the St.Gallen and Buchs locations, where the future becomes tangible. Here, groundbreaking innovations are vividly presented, accompanied by inspiring series of lectures and interactive workshops that inspire creativity. These places are not only places for knowledge exchange, but also for lively networking between industry and research. Here, people from different areas work together on groundbreaking ideas to create concrete projects and positively shape the future of our society. The Switzerland Innovation Park East is the engine that actively brings together the driving forces of research and industry to promote innovation and shape the world of tomorrow.
We are significantly expanding the scope of services and the quality of support for young companies. In the coming years, the research partners will set up ideation and incubator programs in which interested students, doctoral students or employees from industry can identify and seize entrepreneurial opportunities. Teams that are in the start-up phase with their business idea are then supported in the Starfeld program and are intended to grow into promising startup companies. For start-ups that also successfully master this phase, there will finally be a national accelerator program that will be designed by the region’s venture capital investors and operated by the innovation park. This accelerator program is intended to develop international appeal and attract the top startups in Central Europe from the fields of health, digitization and sensor technology. The SIP Ost is the organization that forms the operative bracket around these different programs and ensures that the processes run as smoothly as possible and that the processes mesh.
Two extension buildings are to be built over the next 10 years, so that the office and laboratory space for the companies that have settled will triple. During this period, our ecosystem should grow from 35 today to over 100 companies. In the future, not only start-ups but also innovative international companies will be represented at the location, which are active in the research areas of the innovation park health, digitization and sensor technology.

Our central task as the Switzerland Innovation Park is to bring together researchers with their specialist knowledge and entrepreneurs with their implementation skills and to initiate a goal-oriented professional exchange. Missing competencies we supplement with the help of our Swiss and, in some places, international network. Our goal is the economic success of our corporate customers through innovative new products and services.
