Innovation Hubs
Driving ideas
Innovations arise when decisive key factors come together: a good business idea, know-how, the right partners, the right infrastructure and financing. This is exactly where the Switzerland Innovation Park East comes in. We connect knowledge, people and technology to bring innovations to life. We promote cooperation between companies, start-ups and universities in order to find collaborative and interdisciplinary solutions with added value.
The key topics of Health Innovation, Sensor Innovation and Business Innovation of the Switzerland Innovation Park East are largely determined by the competencies of the regionally based research institutions and companies. The park actively uses the expertise and strengths of its close cooperation partners, Empa , the Cantonal Hospital St. Gallen , the OST – Ostschweizer Fachhochschule , Rhysearch and the University of St. Gallen , to initiate innovation projects and to promote the development of innovative products.
Our main topics
The Innovation Park East focuses on three main topics and thus addresses significant challenges in our society.
The healthcare industry is particularly faced with the task of how to provide high-quality care to an increasingly aging population despite an increasing shortage of skilled workers in the healthcare system. Added to this are continuously rising healthcare costs. The integration of digital and technological innovations can help to overcome these challenges.
Sensors provide us with valuable real-time data, which can be evaluated using digital tools. As a result, processes can be optimized overall and made significantly more efficient. Tracking products, monitoring the environment, controlling energy consumption, ensuring security and building intelligent cities are only made possible through targeted use of sensors.
Digitalization drives the development of innovative and sustainable business models. AI and machine learning support the analysis of data and the prediction of trends, which not only increases efficiency but also promotes environmental and social sustainability in business models.
In order to advance these three topics, the Switzerland Innovation Park East is setting up special “innovation hubs” at the St.Gallen and Buchs locations that revolve around the three main topics. Here innovations are presented in a tangible way, lecture series and workshops round off the program. At these locations, we actively network industry and research with each other in order to generate new, innovative ideas for specific projects.
