It is crucial that defibrillation is performed as early as possible, since the lack of oxygen to the brain caused by ventricular fibrillation (cerebral ischemia) can lead to massive neurological deficits within a short period of time. For this reason, more and more automated external defibrillators are being placed in public spaces. The successful use of an AED depends on the correct execution of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The AED is only a supplement, not a replacement. However, it should be noted that if one ventricular fibrillation occurs per minute, the patient’s chance of survival decreases by 10%. Therefore, the use of a lay defibrillator (AED) must and should take place as early as possible
