Get to know Diego Probst, the new head of Startfeld! In an interview with Andrin Fr\u00f6hlich, he reveals how he sees the potential of start-ups in Eastern Switzerland and which young companies inspire him. <\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Andrin<\/strong>: Diego, what were the highlights of your career?
Diego<\/strong>: My journey into the startup scene began in 2007 at the IFJ<\/em>. This was followed by seven intensive years at venturelab<\/em> and venture kick<\/em>. At the HSG, I had the exciting task of setting up the Startup@HSG<\/em> project together with Prof. Dietmar Grichnik. After my time at Standortf\u00f6rderung Appenzell Ausserrhoden<\/em>, I am now looking forward to following in Peter Frischknecht’s footsteps at Startfeld and working with a great team to promote start-ups in the Switzerland Innovation Park Ost! <\/span><\/p>

Andrin<\/strong>: With all this experience under your belt – what fascinates you most about the startup scene?
Diego<\/strong>: You are always surrounded by exciting and inspiring people and new creative ideas. The dynamic environment and the corresponding dynamics are always fascinating. <\/span><\/p>

Andrin<\/strong>: How do you rate the startup scene in Eastern Switzerland?
Diego<\/strong>: Eastern Switzerland is home to many budding world-class entrepreneurs with scalable business models, including in the high-tech sector. The start-up scene here is (still) in the shadows, but that is set to change. A lot is happening in research and education as well as at a political level. With new initiatives in the areas of acceleration and investment, Eastern Switzerland will soon be in a much stronger position.
I am therefore convinced that Eastern Switzerland can establish itself as the top address for startups from the DACH region. Startups will find everything they need here: a top educational environment with the HSG and OST, excellent research institutions, investors, suitable funding opportunities and, of course, a high quality of life. <\/p>

Andrin:<\/strong> The coolest startup ever is …
Diego:<\/strong> You can’t narrow it down to just one. In my work, I have been able to get to know countless start-ups that have made their way with great ideas and a lot of passion. I’m currently very enthusiastic about planted<\/em>. I was impressed by the energy and motivation of Pacal Bieri and his team right from the start. What they have achieved so far is simply sensational! As a St.Gallen native, I’m naturally delighted that there are also start-ups here that have made the international \u201cbreakthrough\u201d like Frontify<\/em>. A St.Gallen startup that has made it to the \u201ctop of the world\u201d and is continuing to expand its location here in Switzerland. <\/p>

Andrin<\/strong>: Last question: What will you tackle first?
Diego<\/strong>: For the start, it’s important to get to know the processes and the different areas of the innovation park and to have as many discussions as possible with colleagues, start-ups and partners. The first events will also start in August, so we can get started right away. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
