SUMMARY:Impulse event - "Sensor systems and calibration"
DESCRIPTION:THIS IS WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT\nSensors are omnipresent and each of us relies on the data they provide – whether from the weather report or from the smart watch on our wrist. But do we know whether we can trust this data? Find out from our experts which methods are used and how modern sensor systems are calibrated today so that they deliver reliable values even under unfavorable environmental conditions. \n \nThis event offers lively and practice-oriented insights into the world of sensor technology\, including concrete examples. \n \nThe program at a glance\nExpert input: Sensor solutions for harsh environmental conditions\, Dr. Samuel Huber – OST \nSensors are not only exposed to their primary measurand but also to harsh environmental conditions and interferences\, including temperature changes\, mechanical stresses\, stray fields\, humidity or external forces. Unfortunately\, sensors are not independent of these interferences. Samuel Huber uses examples to show how these undesirable parasitic effects can be eliminated or compensated for. \nPractical input: Bayesian sensor calibration\, Moritz Berger – Sensirion \nThe calibration of sensor systems can be a complex and costly task. On the one hand\, non-linearities\, noise and cross-sensitivities have to be taken into account and\, on the other hand\, only a few measuring points are available in volume production for reasons of time and cost. Moritz Berger shows how an optimal calibration can be achieved with the use of statistical methods despite a minimum number of measurements. \n \n \n Date / Time \nThursday\, March 20\, 2025 \n16.30 – 18.00 \n \n \n Location \nOST Campus Buchs \nWerdenbergstrasse 4 \n9471 Buchs (SG) \n \n \n Program \nProgram \n16:30-16:40 Welcome – Andreas Ettemeyer\, Sensor Innovation Hub \n16:40-17:00 Expert input – Samuel Huber\, OST – University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland \n17:00-17:30 Practical input – Moritz Berger\, Sensirion \n17:30-17:55 Practice Exercise-Moderated by Andreas Ettemeyer and Samuel Huber \n17:55-18:00 Conclusion – Andreas Ettemeyer \nfrom 18:00 Networking and aperitif \nSpeakers\n \n \nSamuel Huber ist seit 2020 als Dozent und Professor für Mikrosystemtechnik an der Ostschweizer Fachhochschule tätig. \nWe look forward to your registration!\n \n \n \n \n \n \nRegistration\n\nThe event is free. Introducing a fully autonomous\, AI-based food tracker and patient-centric FSMP\, ALPINA+SANA aims to effectively detect and treat malnutrition\, thereby reducing its social and economic impacts. Our mission is to restore one of life’s greatest pleasures: the enjoyment of food. \n \n \nIonic Wind Technologies develops solid-state airflow cooling solutions for data centers and electronics\, reducing energy consumption while minimizing noise and maintenance. The company’s vision is establishing a new benchmark for efficient air-based cooling\, enabling the development of more sustainable IT infrastructures globally. \n \n \nAiina Robotics develops intelligent\, modular construction robots designed to automate dangerous and labor-intensive tasks like concrete restoration. Our technology combines advanced sensors with AI-driven safety features\, enabling precise and safe collaboration with human workers on construction sites. We boost productivity while making construction safer and more sustainable. Aiina Robotics is at the forefront of transforming the construction industry through flexible\, innovative robotic solutions.rtup\, founded by two graduates from ETH Zürich and a physician\, primarily focuses on the outpatient sector.
